Baby BOOMERS!

"The Play that
Defines a Generation!"

Setting

The early 1960's was a simpler time, when TVs were first becoming household items, and 45 records still dominated the music scene.

The Baby Boomer Generation may have grown up in a quieter time, but don't tell that to the kids who grew up in the 60's, especially those who had sisters and brothers. It was a battle for survival...in your own home!

There may have been more freedom, but there was also more danger, especially since Mom and Dad will be home soon..!

Story

Butchie is a twelve-year-old Lone Ranger fanatic who just wants to watch his TV show in peace.

Queenie, his older sister, declares herself in charge, and invites her friends over to play records.

But when Tiny, their sweet, innocent, younger sister, gets caught in the middle of the living room battlefield, what happens next could be something they won't be able to take back.

Set in a Cape Cod–style house, the Baby BOOMERS! story unfolds in real time over 85 minutes. No scene changes, no time to catch your breath.

Siblings

Inspired by the real childhood of playwright Richard Barbour, and the chaos and torment of gowing up with 5 brothers and sisters, this sharp, funny, and touching one-act comedy began as a college short play, and now returns, fully realized, in a special New York City showcase.

No adult characters. Just brothers and sisters, one afternoon, and the unraveling of sibling hierarchy as we know it.

Baby BOOMERS! isn’t just a play — it’s a time capsule. You’ll laugh. You’ll remember. You’ll see something no one’s ever seen before.

Themes

Baby Boomer Generation

It’s hard to describe The Baby Boomer Generation to anyone who wasn’t there. Back then, parents didn’t hover. They left.

Left you alone in the house for the day. Left you to figure out who was in charge. Left you to survive — together — with nothing but television, toast, and tension.

A true time-machine, Baby Boomers transports audiences back to 1963, battling for power, control and freedom from each other.

Sibling Rivalry

Sibling Rivalry is universal throughout the generations, but the Baby Boomers took it to a new level.  Home wasn't just a house, it was a Kingdon to be fought for. And in that chaotic little kingdom, something amazing happened:

Children became rulers.

Rules became weapons.

And siblings became everything — best friends, mortal enemies, allies, spies, and punching bags — all before dinner.

The Queen vs The Rebel

The story of Butchie and Queenie is a story that played out over millions of families in the 1960's, and to this day.  The play showcases timeless themes of family dynamics, competition, and the bittersweet nature of growing up.

Engage with the sentiments that every sibling can relate to in this hysterical, yet nostalgic portrayal of growing up in the Baby BOOMERS! generation.

Experience

When’s the last time something made you feel like a kid? Reminded you of what it felt like to be left home alone…? You may have been Butchie — demanding control over the TV.

Or maybe you were  Queenie — insisting you’re the oldest and deserving of respect.

Or you were Tiny — stuck in the middle and trying to keep the peace, but maybe not as sweet and innocent as you looked.

Directed by:

Richard R. Barbour

Expect an engaging theatrical experience that invites laughter and introspection. Baby BOOMERS! promises not just entertainment, but a chance to RE-LIVE YOUR CHILDHOOD  and rekindle all those prescious childhood memories.
